A geographic information system (GIS) is a digital computer application designed for the capture, storage, manipulation, analysis and display of geographic information.
The project explores one of the famous problems in the mathematical disciplines of graph theory and the geographic information systems (GIS) to find out the shortest path between the two nodes on shapefile of a map. The project explores various algorithms to demonstrate, calculate & visualize the shortest path between any two nodes of network. Network Analysis is performed on Geospatial data in the form of shapefile (.shp format). This project consists of shortest path visualization at frontend using QT Designer and Python programming and at back end by using pgRouting extenstion of PostgreSQL database.
